113/365: Marcus Aurelius on the hive

It can feel like we are in this alone, but we are not. We are an interconnected species and as such, we should ensure our actions and desires take this into account.

The zero sum mentality ignores the whole for the parts. Since we are a part of the whole, it inevitably hurts us in ways our short-sightedness can’t comprehend.

This is not call for abandonment of aims, rather alignment and connectedness to ensure we aren’t harming our systems, our communities, our tribes, just to eke out a little more benefit for ourselves.
